Happy April - we’ve got a fun month ahead - no fooling!

Predictably, March was quite the rollercoaster of weather - teasing us with 70 degrees days and then drenching us with endless days of rain. Oh, Spring! Thankfully, the bright and cheery daffodils and tulips kept up a steady parade of color that helped ease the pain of the grey days, and watching the baby peas and salad greens develop was equally encouraging! And, of course, checking out the new little lambs frolicking around the pasture is always an antidote for a down day!

Hosting a full week of Spring Break Farm Camp, and seeing the farm through the wondrous eyes of little people is likewise inspiring, albeit a bit exhausting! Watching them running and laughing, without care, through the tall grass, so excited to visit the goats, chickens and farm dogs, was my daily reminder to relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures! We had a fun time learning about ladybugs, lambs, frogs, nests and bunnies - and trying out crazy concoctions like carrot cake waffles, edible nests, and mini frog donuts - who knew such things even existed!

With the short winter days behind us, the garden has really started taking off! The raspberries and blackberries have filled out with their lovely, bright green, new growth and the onions, cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli that were transplanted early in the month, are looking quite settled in to their new Spring homes and ready to start bulking up a bit. While I have a long list of garden tasks still not crossed off the list, that nags at me daily, I was able check off some important tasks on the “business” side of things, and am looking forward to the new ventures ahead.

In the coming month, in amongst the April showers, I am excited to debut the Bus at the Pear Blossom Festival and focus on getting a ton of flowers planted in the garden! I can hardly wait to share these joys of Spring with you all! Coming up in April:
